Kittens, yarn blogs, and other matters.

I'm back. I've not done any drawing recently because I've been taking care of other things since I've been back.

I was fairly depressed for the first week, but a good cry, talking out loud to mom, and talking to my friends pulled me out.

Then I was too busy to draw. I was back in full swing the day after I got back I was a at school, trying to get things sorted out for the kids and the end of the year. EOG tests, 3 field days, and one art show later, I'm finally getting my head above water.

The art show at one of my schools went well. We had over 500 works, and the company sold over 2000.00 of framing packages, netting us around $400, for art supplies for next year. It was a great show, and I'm thankful to the kids and community for supporting it.

Also I've been crocheting myself a new summer bag. It's a market style bag in bright colors. Crocheting I can take along. I'm thinking of crocheting a couple more for groceries, and a couple more for other purposes. I'll post pictures when I get them.

I've joined an online knitting crocheting group as well called Ravelry. I'll link to it as soon as I can. It's a cool place for the knitting and crocheting community.

Also taking up time are the five kittens who are now about 6 weeks old and ready for new homes. I think two of them are going to a new home today, that leaves three. They are eating real food, drinking water, running, playing and exploring. A great deal of fun, and husband D. would keep all of them if we didn't already have four inside and four outside cats. We are looking for homes for the two outside ones that are tame too.

Here's pictures of the babies and short bios about each kitten.

Above is patches. She's the Alpha Cat, whose first at everything. A spirited female Calico she leads the brood on all adventures. She was the first to run, the first to eat, the first to fall into the bathtub. The first to climb the shower curtain trying to get out. She's a whirlwind and a lot of fun.

Sylvester is Patches sidekick. He's second in command and a couple of seconds behind trying anything she tries. He thinks up things for both of them to try as well. For example last week they were still in the box. It was Sylvester's idea to bounce out of the box by jumping up and down. Patches added grabbing the edge of the box and scaling the side and jumping to the floor. Two seconds later Sylvester was with her, exploring the room.

This is Tuffy Jr. Her mom is Tuffy and she looks just like her. Tuffy's not really so tough, she was when she was outside with the other cats, but now she's a sweetheart to us here inside. Both have long hair and are grey tabbies. Tuffy jr. is a loving little girl. The first to run up to be petted.

Callie is a full long haired calico. She's the princess of the group and husband D.'s favorite. She likes me okay, but daddy is best. She knows she's special and wants special attention. A true kitty princess.

Spot was the first born, but is the most reserved. She likes petted, but does not like to join the fray to try to get attention. She prefers to wait until they are all done jockying for position, and then amble up to people. She also likes it if I just notice her and reach out and get her before she has to join them. She has one spot near her tail that is brown, and has a black, brown spot near her ear. She likes solitude and would make a great pet, especially for a writer or artist. I think she's an intellectual at heart.

I think being slow getting back in to things is expected. Actually, I think you're doing great. I'm interested in that online crochet group. I'm working on an afghan for my nephew but they get to large to carry in the summer. I'm thinking of working on another poncho and one for my niece.

I have to confess that my husband took the pictures of the babies. I do some photography, but he did these and he's much better than I am.

You sound like you're doing fine as it is possible to be after such a loss--doing and talking and organizing and doing needlework.
